Mixo Review 2026: The AI Website Builder, Tested on Real Customer Sites

A browser window filling with website sections as a spark of AI generates them, on a dark grid

Mixo is an AI website builder for small businesses: you describe what you do, and it generates a complete one-page site you can edit and publish. We run an AI website detector, so we look at sites like these from the inside every day. For this review, we combined Mixo's own documentation with what we found by examining six live Mixo customer sites: how they're hosted, what they publish for search engines and AI assistants, and what gives them away.

Quick verdict

  • Best for: a local business, freelancer, nonprofit or new idea that needs a credible site with a contact form today, without learning a design tool.
  • Not for: custom web apps, large content sites, online stores with big catalogs, or anyone who needs to export and self-host the code.
  • Stand-out: the technical basics (hosting, SSL, sitemap, robots.txt and llms.txt) are handled for you, and handled correctly on every site we checked.

How Mixo works

You start by describing your business in a sentence or two. Mixo generates a site from that description, with a headline, sections about your services, images from its built-in stock library and a contact form, and Mixo says this takes about 30 seconds. From there you edit by clicking: change any text, swap images, adjust colors, embed a YouTube or Vimeo video, and connect tools such as Google Analytics or Calendly. When you're happy, you publish to a free Mixo web address or, on a paid plan, to your own domain.

The trade-off for that speed is structure. Mixo sites follow Mixo's layouts, so you get far less design freedom than in Framer or Webflow, which we compare in Framer vs. Webflow. For most small businesses, that constraint is the point: there's little to get wrong.

What we found on real Mixo sites

We picked six customer sites from the examples on Mixo's own homepage, including a law firm, an arts nonprofit, a business-funding company and a pet-industry agency, and checked each one in November 2026:

Pros and cons

Pros

  • A publishable site in minutes, with no design skills
  • A genuinely usable free plan
  • Hosting, SSL, sitemap and llms.txt handled correctly
  • Simple, predictable structure that's hard to break
  • No contracts, and a 30-day refund window

Cons

  • Limited design freedom compared with Framer or Webflow
  • No documented way to export the code
  • The free plan means a Mixo web address and badge
  • Generated copy is generic until you rewrite it
  • Not built for stores, apps or large content sites

Mixo vs. the alternatives

Durable aims at the same small-business owner and works the same way, from a description to a finished site. Framer and Webflow give designers far more control, at the cost of a real learning curve. Lovable and Bolt.new generate full web applications rather than brochure sites, which is more power than a contact page needs; see Bolt.new vs. Lovable and our AI website builder comparison. If you want a professional presence quickly and don't plan to design anything yourself, Mixo is one of the most direct routes.

Can people tell your site was made with Mixo?

Yes, if they look. Every live Mixo site we examined loads a header script named after Mixo, and most custom domains point at Mixo in their DNS records. Our AI website detector identifies Mixo sites from those two traces. That's rarely a problem: as we argue in is it bad if your website was built by AI?, visitors judge a site by whether it's clear, fast and trustworthy, not by the tool behind it. The single biggest improvement you can make to any Mixo site is to rewrite the generated text in your own words, with real details, prices and photos.

Frequently asked questions

Is Mixo free?

Yes. The Free plan costs $0 forever and lets you publish a simple website with a contact form on a Mixo web address. It shows a Mixo badge. A paid plan is needed for your own domain, more pages and removing Mixo branding.

Can I use my own domain with Mixo?

Yes, on a paid plan. Mixo’s Business and Premium plans also include a free standard domain (such as a .com) for the first year. On five of the six sites we checked, the custom domain was connected with a CNAME record pointing at Mixo.

Is Mixo good for SEO?

The basics are handled for you. Every Mixo site we checked served a sitemap, a robots.txt file and an automatically generated llms.txt file for AI assistants. Rankings still depend on your content, so rewrite the AI-generated text to be specific to your business.

Can I export my Mixo website?

Mixo’s feature and pricing pages don’t mention exporting your site’s code, so plan on the site staying hosted with Mixo. Hosting and SSL are included on every plan.

Can people tell a website was made with Mixo?

Usually, yes. Mixo sites load a header script named after Mixo, and most custom domains point at Mixo through DNS. Our free detector identifies Mixo sites from these traces. For most small businesses that doesn’t matter: visitors care whether the site is clear and trustworthy.

Does Mixo offer refunds?

Mixo advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans, and you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time without a contract.

The bottom line

Mixo does one thing well: it turns a description of your business into a clean, correctly configured website in minutes, with the technical basics already right. If you need a credible site with a contact form this week, the free plan costs nothing to try. If you need design freedom, an online store or your own code, look elsewhere.
